Role: Chemistry and Accelerated Chemistry teacher
Before LEAD: I received my bachelor’s degree from Southeast Missouri State University and master’s degree from Baker University. I have 32 years of experience. Most recently I taught chemistry at Blue Valley North High School for 11 years. Prior to that I taught biology, chemistry, and AP chemistry at Lawrence High School for 16 years.
Why I’m at LEAD: Having taught project based lessons, I found that students were much more engaged and excited about learning. They had a chance to express their individuality and developed a deeper understanding of the concepts. As a result, I am very excited to be a part of LEAD.
What I’m most looking forward to: I am looking forward to mentoring and empowering students to reach their full potential, and to helping them develop an appreciation and love for science and learning in general.
About me: My husband Rick is a track coach at Washburn University. We have 2 children and 6 grandchildren with whom we love spending time. We enjoy biking riding, reading, keeping in touch with our extended track family.
