Math Facilitator

Before LEAD:
I started my teaching career at Rock Bridge High School in Columbia, MO. While there I taught a variety of math courses including Integrated Math and Pre-Calculus. After three years there my wife and I decided to teach internationally and ended up at an International Baccalaureate (IB) school in Suwon, South Korea called Gyeonggi Suwon International School. After spending four years there teaching both traditional and IB math we decided to return to America. I landed a job at Park Hill High School and have spent the past eight years there teaching everything from Algebra 1 to Math Analysis.

Why I'm at LEAD:
As a teacher I have always really valued the relationships I have been able to build with my students. I am so excited to be at LEAD for a variety of reasons. I think being a part of a smaller building where it will be possible to get to know a larger portion of the students will be great. I’m excited to be a part of the excellent mentoring environment that LEAD fosters. Finally, I know many of the staff from my time teaching at Park Hill and I am looking forward to working with them at LEAD.

What I'm most looking forward to:
There are so many great things to look forward to teaching at LEAD. The leadership and staff are wonderful. The mentorship opportunities will be many and impactful. I’m also just looking forward to a new adventure in teaching. And the new building looks like it will be beautiful!

About me:
My wife Bonnie, who works as a Learning Facilitator in Park Hill, and I have been married for 14 years. We have three boys: Everett (3rd grade) Asher (1st grade), and Rhodes (almost 2 years old). We recently adopted at boxer/shepherd mix named Ranger. We live in the district and our kids attend Tiffany Ridge. I love to do life with my family, in particular taking trips and being outdoors. I also love doing little house projects (or big ones sometimes), watching movies, and sitting on the deck drinking a warm cup of coffee on a cool morning. I also lead Young Life for Park Hill students. I grew up here in the KC Northland and as such am a huge fan of all things KC but especially our Super Bowl Champion Chiefs and World Series Champion Royals!
