Before LEAD: I taught various business courses at Park Hill High School for the past 14 school years.

Why I’m at LEAD: I love challenging myself with new things. I wasn’t always this way, in fact I used to hate change. Now I thrive on putting myself in uncomfortable situations to grow both personally and professionally.

What I’m most looking forward to: I am most looking forward to adapting to a new vision of what high school looks like. When students learn how to work together, how to be self-sufficient in their own learning, and can reach their personal goals, they are college and/or career ready.

About me: I'm originally from a small town north of KC called Cameron, Missouri. After high school, I attended Northwest Missouri State University (GO BEARCATS!) and received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Education. I have also received a Master’s in Education degree with emphasis in Athletics/Activities Administration. I have been teaching business for 14 years and I’ve coached volleyball and basketball all while at Park Hill High School.

I love sports and the atmosphere they provide! And my family is a sports-oriented blended family. I grew up with my mom and sister and I now have 2 nieces that I adore! I also have 5 step siblings. Three of my step brothers played college football, with one moving on to play in the NFL. And one coaching at the D1/D2 levels. They are all over 6’1 and make family dinners an event. J

I love to travel and have a list of places I want to visit someday. I once backpacked through Europe for three weeks – best vacation of my life. And would go back to Italy in a heartbeat!

Besides teaching, I have had various part time jobs to gain experience outside of education. I have been a lifeguard, flower delivery person, and most recently worked at concerts in the area. What a fun job that was! I went from working the door of the VIP club to working backstage with famous artists. I could tell you some stories! J

Overall, I truly believe you gain the best experience when you stretch yourself to encounter new things.  This is what brought me to LEAD! I am so excited to be a part of this school and to give LEAD students a step into the business world. I look forward to a great year!
